More Holiday Christmas Comic Covers!

I still love collecting comic books and I will always love the holiday season. So when it comes to comic books with special holiday stories or variant covers, you can almost bet that I will pick those up. I was going through some of my long boxes of books again this past weekend and pulled out these holiday themed issues of TMNT just to show you some of the cheer that can be found inside the pages of these heart warming graphic novels. Can't wait to read some new stories this year! So let's visit with the Ghost of Christmas past and take a look at some of these classic holiday covers from the days of yore! ENJOY!

Happy Thanksgiving 2020!

This Thanksgiving will look very different from years past. Myself, my wife and our 3 kids will be staying home this year, but just as she does with everything else, my wife is going big with the Turkey Day feast. She is making us a feast consisting of turkey, macaroni & cheese, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, seafood salad, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, pecan cheese cake, cookies and pumpkin pie! It is going to be amazing! I am truly thankful for my wife and the rest of my family. This year would really suck without them around. I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving full of food, family (probably via Zoom) and football!

Best of the 80's LOOTCRATE!

I have seen these LOOTCRATE boxes at Walmart & Target stores before, but have passed on them time after time. Sometimes they would have some cool stuff in them, but never anything that would make me drop $30-$40. Then on a recent trip to Walmart, I saw this "Best of the 80's" box on clearance for $14.95! This time the price was low enough that I felt I could indulge myself! Here's the TMNT item that was inside.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Magnets
I like the "old school" design on these. The TMNT look like they just lept from my TV during a cartoon filled Saturday morning! I don't really have a need for more magnets right now, so these guys will stay in their package until the call of duty arises and the Green Teens are needed to hold my kids artwork on the fridge!
Well, there it is. The box contained 5 solid items ripped from the 80's for only $14.95! If I see some more of these boxes for that price, I just may have to pick them up. Do you own any of these boxes? What are your thoughts on Lootcrate? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for reading.

New Comics!

Picked up a few books this week at my LCS. The owner held on to the 1-in-10 & 1-in-25 TMNT Last Ronin variants for me, but had to pass on the $75 price tag for the 1-in-25! Can't wait to get my read on!

Comic Book Pick 10/28/20

This week, the comic book I am most excited to read is...
TMNT: THE LAST RONIN #1

(W) Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, Tom Waltz (A/CA) Kevin Eastman, Esau Escorza, Issac Escorza
It's the TMNT event of 2020! Springing from the minds of TMNT co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird comes an epic like you've never seen before! In a future NYC far different than the one we know today, a lone surviving Turtle goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and friends. Kinetic layouts from Eastman, inks from Esau and Isaac Escorza and a thrilling script full of surprises from longtime TMNT scribe Tom Waltz all combine to make this one of the most memorable TMNT stories you will ever read!
Oversized in both format and page count, this is a perennial TMNT tale that can't be missed!
SRP: $8.99

Halloween Comic Cover

Halloween is one of my most favorite days of the year and comic books are one of my most favorite things to collect. It's always great when two things you love can come together and make one great piece art. To me, that's what the comic book covers below represent. Some of them are directly Halloween inspired while others are creepy enough to be showcased during the spookiest of all times. This year my entire family has decided to be Ghostbusters for Halloween. Some of us are still working on our costumes and so while the rest of us wait, at least we'll have some comics to read and keep us entertained! I hope you enjoy this cover from my personal collection as much as I do!

What Up NECA?

Just tried ordering the NECA Baby TMNT figures from their site and while entering my info, it told me my order can't be completed because they don't deliver to where I live. I live in America, shouldn't that be good enough? Anyone else have this problem?

40th Birthday Roundup!

This past weekend was my 40th birthday. I'm not ashamed to say that. I feel great, I have an amazing family, good job and most excellent comic book collection. What else could anyone ask for in life? As usual my family spoiled me with some fabulous gifts including shirts, DVDs and collectibles. Let's take a look under the wrapping paper and see what TMNT items I was given this year!
Musical Mutagen Tour Set
I have been wanting this set for a long time and my wife spotted it at Target early in the month and set it aside for my birthday! I love the guitar picks, souvenir ticket and concert lanyard! They are so cool! The shirt on the other hand was a little bit of a disappointment. Unlike the Funko shirt form the Dustin set, this one was stif and seemed to feel almost waxy on the inside of the shirt. I wonder if this is due to the screen printing on the shirt? Has anyone else had this issue? Maybe it will be nicer after I give it a good wash? I still love that all these decades later the "Coming Out of Their Shells Tour" is finally getting some respect. If you missed it back in the day, you can view the entire special below. That's my birthday gift to you...ENJOY!!!

New Additions to the TMNT Collection II

Over the last few months I have succumbed to the addiction that is on-line shopping. Seriously, once you start you find so many other cool things and you just can't stop...that is until your wife reminds you that you have children and bills to pay. This realization led me to be pretty selective of what I've purchased recently and as a huge fan of the Green Machine there are a ton of options. So without wasting anymore time, here is part 2 of the newest additions to my TMNT collection!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Metal Sign
My wife and kids saw this neat little metal sign on clearance at Hobby Lobby and picked it up for me to hang in my basement. I have a wall downstairs that is pretty much dedicated to my TMNT collection and now this sign hangs on that wall right next to my Casey Jones hockey mask from Halloween. A few years ago my son and I went Trick or Treating as Rapahel and Casey Jones. Wonder what we'll be this year?
TMNT: Coming Out of Their Shells Tour Guide
Everybody has been going crazy for the new NECA Musical Mutagen Tour TMNT figures that were relaeased a few weeks back, but for my money I want some of the original Coming Out of Their Shells Tour merch! Recently I've aquired the tour cassette tape, a promotional pin-back button and this Tour Guide that features some bios about the Turtles and what instrument they play, a sweet poster, a cut-out Turtle mask and an exclusive 2 page comic. I think I'll have to scan the contents and share them with you all sometime soon!
Mega Construx: Mikey's Kitchen Chaos Set
Ever since the Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon introduced the character Ice Cream Kitty I had been hoping they would release a toy of her to include in my collection. I know a few years back there was a plan to release a figure, but those dreams were dashed when the show was cancelled. The closest thing we got was the minifig that was included in this Mega Construx Kitched Chaos set. I paid a little over $10 to get this set mint in box and when it came home, myself and my son busted open the box and built this together. Honestly, the Ice Cream Kitty that is included is almost the perfect size to include with my TMNT action figures. Isn't she cute?
Thanks for bearing with me and checking out some of the latest additions to my TMNT collection. I gotta say, I'm running out of room and may have to expand my basement collection area because I'm sure there is more to come for this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fanatic! COWABUNGA!!!!

Jennika Toy?

If this was a real thing, I'd be all over it! How cool would it be to have a retro styled Playmates toy of Jennika?

Musical Mutagen Tour!

Finally found one! The size is a little big for me (would rather have a large), but this is the only Musical Mutagen Tour box I've seen in the wild!

New Additions to the TMNT Collection

Over the last few months I have succumbed to the addiction that is on-line shopping. Seriously, once you start you find so many other cool things and you just can't stop...that is until your wife reminds you that you have children and bills to pay. This realization led me to be pretty selective of what I've purchased recently and as a huge fan of the Green Machine there are a ton of options. So without wasting anymore time, here are the newest additions to my TMNT collection!
Hot Wheels TMNT Surfin' School Bus
I had seen these pop up on some of the blogs I follow, but I had been unable to locate them in person. Then one day on a trip to Walmart, I spotted them in the toy car aisle. I grabbed the Surfin' School Bus because the packagin features all 4 Turtles and the design most closely looks like the original Party Wagon from the 80s Playmates toy line.

IDW Comics
If you are a Turtles fan and have not read this comic book series by IDW, then you are missing out on some very cool stuff. The artwork is excellent, the stories are solid and the fact that this series is building it's own universe is AWESOME! The owner of my local comic shop knows that I am a die hard TMNT fan, so any time he gets any of the variants or Retailer Incentive covers, he sets them aside for me. He's a pretty cool guy and I appreciate him helping me build my TMNT comic collection.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Dorbz
I really enjoy these cool little figures put out by Funko. When one of our local Hastings stores was closing years ago, I was able to grab Leo, Donny & Raph for around $2.50 each. It wasn't until a few weeks ago where I would make the family whole again and picked up Mikey off ebay for about $8. Now there is no stopping these Ninja Teens!
TMNT II Signed Film Presentation
This item was something I discovered on the site for Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman. He was offering up these radical items that feature a reproduction mini poster, film strip and autograph mounted as you see above. I had a discount code and got this fairly cheap. When the item arrived at my home I was excited to check it out, but when I opened the package, the item was scratched and some of the ink on the mini poster was smudged. I contacted Team Eastman and they replaced the item immediately and let me keep the damaged item. Excellent customer service from an all around nice dude. If you want to see more of what is available from Kevin Eastman Studios, you can check out his store by clicking HERE.
There are still a few more TMNT items I recently picked up that I would like to share with you, so check back next Friday for "New Additions to the TMNT Collection: Part II"!

Comic Book Pick 7/22/20

This week the comic book I am most excited to read is...
TMNT URBAN LEGENDS #25
(W) Gary Carlson (A/CA) Frank Fosco
Gary Carlson and Frank Fosco's epic run on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gets a proper ending after twenty-one years! The truth behind Lady Shredder is revealed! What does this mean for the Turtles? What does it mean for Karai?! Maybe Donatello has some answers in this penultimate issue of TMNT: Urban Legends!
SRP: $3.99

Game Player's Magazine: December 1989

Back in the day, before the fancy interweb was a common household appliance, we had to get our video game tips from our friends on the schoolyard. Most of the time these so called "tips" were complete BS. If you really wanted to take your game to the next level you had to pony up some scratch and purchase a magazine like Nintendo Power, Game Pro and even to a lesser extent Game Player's Magazine. I picked up the issue above all the way back in the golden ages of December 1989. Obviously, the main reason I grabbed this specific magazine was to get tips on how to beat one of the hottest games at the time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This issue did not disappoint! It gave us 10 whole pages of coverage on this blockbuster game that I am about to share with you....NOW!

Hopefully this extensive guide gave you the tips and tricks you needed to defeat The Shredder and save your beloved sensei, Master Splinter! I know it didn't help me much, the farthest I ever got was to the giant Mouser! Anyway, Game Player's Magazine didn't just cover games, but it gave us an in depth look at how some of Hollywood's biggest stars enjoy their games.
Wow! That's some great info about Married With Children star David Faustino! Who knew his favorite game was Double Dragon and his biggest thrill as an actor was being on the cover of TV Guide? What's that you say? You want more tips? Game Player's Magazine has your questions answered!
Great stuff! Even though the game content is exquisite, I can't in good conscience finish this post without showing off some of those classic advertisements!

I could do a whole month of posts on the ads! So chock full of greatness! Thank you for going on this journey with me through a 30 year old magazine about retro video games. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! What was your favorite gaming magazine from back in the day/ Let me know in the comments below!
